This is our Charmhouse.
As I added the nametags to the dog collars I had made for our Halloween costumes as dogs from Phish songs, I was struck by the nostalgic idea of charm necklaces from my childhood. Wanting to recreate that carefree feeling and personalization, I bought a 3D printer and got to work. Sourcing the chains, clips, and bells, I assembled my first charm: a star representing my best friend’s favorite song (and the name of her dog).
A flurry of texts among eight friends heading to New York for the Phish New Years’ Eve run at Madison Square Garden ensued: where are we staying, what are you wearing, are we having a gift exchange, what’s your favorite song, do you have any extra tickets, what’s your favorite color, are we having a potato chip party? Donned in sequined festive apparel, all eight of us wore our personalized charm necklaces to the shows, inspired by the 80s, styled for Phish New Years’ Eve.
About Me
Born in 1979 with a sparkle in my eye, childhood was full of cassette tapes, crafting, and sleepovers. In 1998, that sparkle grew brighter as I discovered live music and a community that moved me. Inspired by nostalgia and the love of a certain band from Vermont, Charmhouse is a way to express a physical manifestation of fond memories, love of creating and personalizing, and dedication to a band that continues to bring friends together, encourage travel, and broaden horizons.
